Mrs. Carmean

Welcome to the 2024/2025 school year! I am more than looking forward to guiding, teaching, and learning with your treasures this year! This is my 19th year teaching. I  taught 2nd grade my first year at Terra Vista Elementary school and  the rest has been 3rd grade here at D. W. Long. I absolutely love teaching 3rd grade! I am married and have 4 so/so kids, just kidding I actually think they are pretty amazing! Kylie is 23 and just got married this summer! Kennedy is 19 and just finished her 1st year at UC San Diego, she would like to become a teacher!  Kloee will be a senior at Etiwanda High School! She plays soccer, runs track, does pole-vaulting, and just made the first ever varsity flag football team. She is also part of the ASB. Finally, Carson is 9, yup we started all over again, he will be in 4th grade here at Long. He loves hockey, baseball and Fortnite. When I am not at school, or running to sporting events I enjoy creating candy tables, shopping, bowling, going to country music concerts and eating Mexican food! In the summer you can find me at our cabin in Lake City Colorado, fly fishing, hiking and riding atvs. It is my hope to make this year, a year that your child remembers for years to come!

Mrs. Hantke

This is my 18h year teaching!  I’ve had the pleasure of teaching 3rd grade for 12 years, 5th grade for 5 years and a ⅘ combo.  All but 2 of those years have been enjoyed at David W. Long.  Prior to teaching, I was a substitute teacher, permanent substitute and a teacher’s aide. My passion is teaching and I love my job!  When I’m not teaching, I enjoy cooking, reading and spending time with my husband and kids. My family loves to camp and ride quads, which we try to do as often as possible. I have a beautiful daughter, Gabriella, who graduated from high school and wants a career in education one day. My son, Brayden, will be in 7th grade and loves to play baseball. This year he got to play baseball at Cooperstown in New York. It was so much fun! I also have 2 step children, Ryan and Kadee, who live in Oklahoma and my 9 year old, Cody, lives in heaven.  My fur babies are named Zoey, Stokeley, and Tunechi, and bring me a great deal of joy. I am excited to teach your children and look forward to an exciting year!

Ms. McDonald

Welcome to Room 9! I am very excited about the 2024-2025 school year! I have been teaching at DWL for 20 years! I have taught first, second and third grade. I really love third grade.  I have also been a school technology clerk and a librarian. My two (grown up!) children attended this school too, so it feels like home to me. I hope to make our classroom feel like a family. I love to travel! This summer I went to Mexico City and St. George, Utah. I also love to cook and bake for my family, friends, and students. I especially enjoy spending time with my grandchildren, Sullivan and Helena. They are such a joy. My favorite subject in school has always been reading. It is my hope to help your child find a love of reading by helping them find just the right book to light that spark! Here is to a terrific year!

Mrs. Cantu

Welcome to Room 11! I was blessed to grow up and go to school within the Etiwanda School District, and it is a special honor to be teaching and giving back to the same community that helped form who I am today. I received my BS in Sociology, my Teaching Credential and Masters in Education from Cal Baptist University. This is currently my 8th year teaching for Etiwanda, and my 5th year here at DW Long. My husband Basil and I have been married for 6 years and have three beautiful babies. Our son Parker is 4 years old and is starting TK here at Long, our daughter Sage is 2 and a half years old, and our son Miles is 1 years old. I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, playing board games, watching movies, and going to Disneyland. Some of my favorite things are Starbucks, Bath and Body Works, Target runs, dark chocolate, vanilla coke, and anything salty. I cannot wait to work with all of your students and watch them grow this year.

My name is Mrs. Blake.  I am so excited to welcome you and your family. I am grateful for the opportunity to have your child in my class and be a part of his or her educational journey. I have been teaching for 23 years, with all of those years served at David W. Long. My husband, Jeff, and I have 5 children between the two of us. Three boys and two girls, ranging from ages 32 to 23 years old. We love spending time at the beach, traveling and hanging out with our children and friends.  As an educator, I believe that every child has unique talents and abilities.
