Principal's Message

As we set course for the upcoming school year at DW Long, I wanted to take a moment to share some reflections of highlights from the 2018-19 school year.  Our Rangers are amazing students that continue to do all that they can to grow academically and socially. With the partnership of our families and the local community, we have been able to continue to build on our positive school climate for our Rangers and families.  This past year, we continued our partnership with the Fontana Police Department and Etiwanda High School to make DW Long the center of our community. With the continued support from our PTO, classroom volunteers, and English Learner Advisory Committee, AAEPAC representative, and School Site Council, we have continued to make every decision at DW Long with one question in mind: What is best for our students?

The theme Etiwanda has adopted for the 2019-20 school year is “Building Tomorrow’s Leaders Today”.  As we prepare for the start of the school year, I wanted to outline some ways that you can help to prepare your Ranger to be a leader when he or she returns to school.

We look forward to continuing to partner with you to build on the success of programs such as BRAVO, Universal Access, and our learning academies. Many of our BRAVO Programs throughout the year have an on-line sign up at  We will also send flyers home once the programs are available for enrollment.

Monday, July 1st to Sunday, July 28th: Parents of returning students must complete the annual online Data Confirmation prior to obtaining class assignments at the following link:

Monday, July 29th at 4:00 PM: TK and Kinder Class assignments will be available via the following link:

Thursday, August 1st at 4:00 PM: All grade levels will be made available on-line via the following link: .  Class lists will no longer be posted outside the school prior to the start of school due to safety concerns.

  • If there is any confusion, please contact the school office for clarification. We encourage parents to use the on-line option to expedite the process.  There will be a series of questions that you would have to answer to access your child’s class in order to ensure confidentiality.

As we prepare for the first day of school, here are some helpful reminders:

Lunch prices this year will be $2.75. You may put money on your child’s account on-line through or send it in an envelope with the child’s name and teacher written on it.

Please check your child’s backpack when they return home from their first day, as they will be bringing home first day paperwork.  All students will be supplied with a black Parent-Teacher Communication folder. Please review the papers and return any forms indicated so that we can begin the year in the right direction.  Please continue to check your child’s backpack daily to keep up with important information. For parents that use social media, please follow us @DWLRangers on Twitter and Instagram and check our school website for important information at If you are interested in accessing parent communication in a mobile friendly format you are encouraged to download the School Messenger App.  You will be able to receive messages from our school office through this app. I hope that one of these options will work best for your family.

It was once said, “If you want to go quickly, go alone, but if you want to go far, you must go together.” At DW Long, we value the wisdom behind this quote. Our job is to work together as a community to make sure that we have the environment that is best for our Rangers to Learn Today to Lead Tomorrow.

We are looking forward to greeting all the students and seeing each Ranger in school every day as we prepare them to be good citizens while reinforcing the character traits that you value at home.  We will see you all on August 5th!

At your service,

Mr. White
